This is one of the best-writen, well formulated about pages I have seen so far. I like how candid you are and make the text both personal and professional at the same time! Kudos! You should write a book or at least become an editor ;) .

    • Sabine

Wow Janine, thank you, that’s quite a compliment :) . I feel like a ‘published author’ already though since I get to write daily and for a modest audience ;) . What I like about blogs vs books is that it is always up to date and very inter-active. But who knows what the future holds!

      love, sabine

  • I just came across your blog and I LOVE IT!!! It is AWESOME! I can’t wait to read more! :)

    • Sabine

Haha di I reply to yours? Because I visited yours just a few days ago! I think through kelsey. But I’m a bad commenter haha, I should do something about that.

Thanks for the compliment, I really loved yours as well and the story behind it too. I was actually wondering how your mom was doing now with her diabetes?

      love, sabine

      • My mom has actually turned her life around. She was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes (where the pancreas makes insulin, but the body doesn’t know how to use it properly), and has since changed her lifestlye for the better; once she was diagnosed, she learned everything she could about being a diabetic; she has lost the excess weight (about 60-70 lbs), she controls it with diet, exercise, and strength training – her doctor has taken her off medication because she controls it so well. She feels so much better now, and it rubs off on the rest of us. Since diabetes is prominent in my family (my grandma, my mom, my uncle, etc) I have to be careful. My mom is my role model. I am so grateful for her. She motivates me to be healthier and enjoy life in the moment.

        • Sabine

Wow that’s so impressive! Really happy to hear that. Wish more people were like that and make medicine less of the go-to response. A great role model indeed.

    Wonderful intro :)

Hi Maria! Thank you, and I was born in the great year ’88. I’ll be turning 23 this month.

found your blog via your comment on my friend anne’s blog today! i love it! from reading your story, we seem to have a lot in common… exploring nutrition for personal reasons but also as a second career move! keep up the good writing and photos, i’ll be adding you to my list of favs!
    elle

    • Sabine

Hi Elle, so nice to hear you like the blog! Were you on Anne’s pictures about the burger too? I made them yesterday and they were fab.
Anyway, it’s always nice to ‘meet’ like-minded people, so welcome! I’ll be checking out your blog asap!
      Love, Sabine

    • Christian

Elle, I visited your place and I see that you use a lot Nutella!… Did you know that Nutella contains a lot of refined sugar?… In fact, it’s the first ingredient. Ænd refined sugar is very acid for the body!…

  • Megan

Your blog looks great I can’t wait to read more!
I’m vegan too and I love the way it makes me feel, I never plan on going back.
I love doing yoga as well, it calms me so much :)

  • Jen

Great blog. Saw your post on crazysexylife.com. I am new to veganism and look forward to reading about it. I am going to start writing more about it on my blog soon.

    • Sabine

Hi Jen, thanks & welcome to the blog :) . How’s the detox going for you?

  • Lea

    Hey,

A fellow Dutchie here :) I absolutely love your blog, it’s great to see someone with such similar eating habits and a passion for healthy food!
I recently moved to London and while it’s an amazing city in terms of health stores (I still consider Whole Foods heaven on earth ;) ) I cannot seem to find Artisina’s coconut butter anywhere! I’d already given up on ever tasting it until I came across your blog and realised it’s apparently available in the Netherlands! Could I ask where you found it? It would definitely make my year! – which is quite sad, but I’ll take it, hehe!
    Love, Lea

    • Sabine

Hi Lea, nice to have another Dutch reader! I love London but I hate the weather haha. are you staying there permanently?

here in holland there’s several options. the Noordermarkt sells it (rawsuperfoods stand) but it’s very pricy (€16!). unlimitedhealth.com also sells it, they have a shop in Holland as well. I personally prefer to buy it from iHerb.com. even with shipping it’s much cheaper! (€7). good luck getting your hand on it!

      • Lea

Thank you so much for the tips! I love iHerb.com, they seem to have absolutely everything!
I still go home a lot, so next visit I’ll make sure to check out the Noordermarkt as well. Can’t wait to finally try it out! Thanks again and keep up the great work on your blog!:)

        • Fanny

Finding this post solves a pborlem for me. Thanks!

  • Ariane

Hi Sabine! I just found your site from a “detox recipe” search on Google. I’m in the midst of my second 5-day cleanse in the last 6 months. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that your blog is fantastic, and I will certainly recommend it to my friends and family! I was in Amsterdam in February for my first time- what a lovely place (I’m from Montreal)!!! I am very eager to go back :) Keep up the great work, I’ll be tuning in!

    • Sabine

Hi Ariane, thank you & good luck with your cleanse :) . You should definitely visit Amsterdam again when the weathers a bit warmer, February is such a dreadful month weather wise here in Holland! How long were you here for?

      • Ariane

We were only in Amstersam for two nights as part of a 10 day mini getaway (my Dad lives outside of London, so we visitied him and then went to Belgium and Amsterdam!). I will definitely visit again in the warmer months!!!

  • Anna

Absolutely LOVE your blog! Keep the good work up! xoxo, Anna

  • Jackie

Hi Sabine, What a great blog your write! The best one I came across so far! I noticed that you do yoga. Can I ask you what school/yoga studio you go to for both Ashantaga yoga & Bikram yoga? Thanks a million! Cheers, J

  • Alana

Hi Sabine! Just wanted to say that I love your blog! It’s well written and full of interesting information…I’ll definitely be re-visiting it soon. :)

  • Eva

You inspire me with your posts about healthy food and lifestyle; so inspiring. Definetly will be visiting this website at least once a week :)

  • bente

  • alejandra

Hi Sabine! I love your blog! I read it every day and it inspires me so much, I admire you and your health approach, its wonderful how passionate you are about whole foods and healthy lifestyle, thanks a lot! <3 :)

  • Leif

Hi Sabine Very cute blog and loved the pic of the two seeds sprouting in your most recent entry. Is the picture yours and if it is, can I use it for an email party invite. Much appreciated – Big hugs and keep up your blogging – Leif

  • Judith

Hey Sabine, can you tell me what food processor you own, or which one you recommend? I’m trying to find a good one but it’s not that simple…

    • Sabine

Hi Judith, I don’t actually have one! I found that with a Vitamix, I don’t need one. I hear the magimix is the best food processor to get, but I’m sure that cheaper ones work well too. I had a cheap Kentwood before and it worked well for chopping and pureeing everything, just not making nut butters :)

  • PeterASchubert

I just read your article “Sabine’s blog:Nutrition 101: Chia Seeds.” A good article. You do make some claims about the iron content that doesn’t seem to tally with anyone else (ie US Dept Ag). Where did you source that information, as I hope its true and would like to know for sure. Please cc a reply to my email. Thanks.

    • Sabine

Hi Peter, I didn’t source that info anywhere, it depends on the brand (and thus quality) you get, and the label of the brand I used back then had this nutritional info on it. In my expoerience, the white organic ones have higher iron levels.

  • Jennifer

Wow! What a fabulous blog! You are like my twin- I also went to fashion school, am not pursuing that any longer, n now I’m thinking about going back to school to study nutrition. I am high raw, all vegan, and cant start my morning without a green (kale) smoothie – my vitamix and food processor are my best friends… Lol. I relate on just about every single post I have read of yours… I could stay up all night reading your blog! love your energy and I can’t wait to read and learn more from you!

    • Sabine

Hi Jennifer, great to have you reading along! Sounds like we have quite some similarities indeed :) !

  • Jessy

Hey, I was wondering if the email address you listed in this post is the correct one? I sent you an email but you never replied …

    • Sabine

Hi Jessy, it sure is! I am sorry but I can’t seem to find your email in my inbox, could you resend it? Thanks!

  • Charlotte

    Hoi Sabine,

Alles weten over mode is leuk,
Today you kinda changed my life, haha!

    Liefs,
    Priscilla

  • Anne

    Heey Sabine,

  • janet

    Sabine,
I hear everyone talking about the 21 day detox. Do you plan to do another one — on your site — maybe not you personally, as you seem to be doing really well w your present routine.
