Saturday was a great day filled with all raw food and amazing people. Still buzzin’ from the raw food workshop, the first guests for my monthly raw vegan potluck arrived.
I hereby announce the official opening of watermelon season!
Seems like more and more males are finding their ways to raw & living foods (and my potlucks) too, yay!
Let me tell you – it is quite fun when there is some raw food chefs coming to the potlucks as well. Raw food heaven! And just a shout out for these people – they know who they are- I love how creative and versatile they are. One owns his own raw vegan cafe. The other makes her own line of Gypsy clothing, while yet another is about to start raw catering and high-teas in Amsterdam. Amazing!
Raw cherry cheesecake with coconut macadamia whipped cream – seriously one of the best things I’ve eaten in my entire life…!
I feel so blessed to have found my raw food tribe here in Amsterdam. Not sure if I ever mentioned this on the blog but for some time I felt quite lonely here, not sure if there were more people that shared my interests and perspective on life. Moving to a different continent was always on my mind (ok, still is sometimes). But I am happy that I got fed up enough and started activelt attracting like-minded people. I put myself out there, started hosting potlucks and connecting with people at places I like to come (like the farmers market, which turned out to be a fertile breeding ground for raw hippies – who knew!
).
In a few short months time I feel like I got a new extended family. People of all walks of life, ages and ethnicities. Raw food is certainly a common denominator but there is so much more we share. Love for life and being free-spirited, to name a few.
If you feel for making some new cool free-spirited friends, come join the next potluck!
I am skipping one month in lieu of my Bali travels (countdown: 3 days!) so the next one is June 2nd.
Weather permitting, this one will be in Amsterdam’s famous Vondelpark, which is a 10m walk from my house!

I so wish I could come, but, alas, I am in the US!

This sounds like so much fun and everything looks really good. It’s just, I’m way too scared to join. I’ll be moving to Amsterdam in the summer, so the distance shouldn’t really be a problem.

your raw potlucks sound (and look) so great! And you are totally right: You have to get yourself out there to meet like-minded people! I hosted a vegan potluck last week and it was such a nice experience.

Hey!
I am really looking foward to it.
If I am still in Holland by that time I will be there
I cannot tell you how amazing I think this is from you to organize this and bring all these people together! I can imagine so well that there were times you felt a bit more alone because I felt the same way sometimes. Actually, this is one of the reasons why I decided to move to San Francisco. I know I will be back in a’dam at some point so it is great to know that this wonderful community of open minded people is there!
!!
I hope I can come and visit you guys sometime soon

It seems that you all enjoy the potluck you had! Food is more delicious when shared. Do you have special techniques on preparing this raw dishes to preserve its freshness? I enjoyed reading your posts and looking at your pictures! Enjoy life!
