Hey babes!
Great responses to the Organic vs Conventional topic, and I’m honored so many of you were interested in receiving the report from me. Hope you like it!
Detox is still going well, although I really should indulge more in meditating & Yoga! I haven’t had the motivation to go take a class for some time now and I’m still a bit intimidated by doing random Yoga poses by myself. But I should bite the bullet and start, today. I’ll also try and download some Yoga vids to get me on my way.
Last night I was really dragging, overly tired, and this morning it was hell waking up with my alarm at 6:30. Maybe it’s because I got up at 6AM for a few days but I can’t imagine because most times I woke up quite easily at that time. Could also be because I ate chips at the movies last night, I did get very tired & heavy afterwards. Could also be random, or some detox symptoms, who knows. I’ll keep an eye on it!
I sat in the sun yesterday for almost an hour, it was so lovely! Our backyard is protected from wind so I can sit in a top and shorts these days already to get some vitamin D action on
.
Now I forget, did I promise y’all some recipes?!
Raw Vegan ChocoCado Brownies
Yields 9 small brownies (or 4 normal sized ones)
Adapted from Dani
Base:
* 1/2 cup cashews
* 1/2 cup pecans
* 7 fresh dates (or soak dried dates)
* 1/4 cup cacao powder
* 1/2 t vanilla extract
* dash of salt
Top:
* 2 avocado’s
* 1 cup frozen cherries
* 4 T cacao powder
* 2 T agave (optional)
Grind nuts in food processor, don’t over process or they’ll become too oily (trust me…). Add rest of the base ingredients and process until a ball forms and the dough is sticky. Line an oven dish with foil and spread the dough out. Use your hands or a spatula to flatten the surface. Procees to process all the topping ingredients and spread out over the base. Place in the fridge for about an hour or in the freezer for 15 minutes for the brownies to firm up.
There you have it, healthy brownies!
Onto the next chocolate-y recipe
Raw Superfood Smoothie
Serves one
* 3/4 cup water (180ml)
* 3 Romaine leafs
* 1 T chia seeds (or flax)
* 1 T raw cacao powder
* 1 T raw chocolate protein powder
* 1 T coconut butter (or oil)
* 1.5 T raw honey or agave
* 1/2 t vanilla extract
* 1 small banana (ripe)
* 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
Start with blending the water, Romaine leafs & Chia seeds (you can use flax instead), until the Romaine is completely dissolved in the water. Then add the powder, top with coconut butter, agave, extract and banana, and blend until smooth. Lastly, add the frozen blueberries and blend. Blending like this will give you the best (smooth) consistency without chunks
That little ball is chilled coconut butter, now I don’t have to scrape it from the jar everytime!
I also made sure I ate at least one meal without chocolate so y’all wouldn’t think I’m addicted…
Strawberry Explosion Salad
Serves one
* 2 hands mixed greens (I used arugula, watercress & baby greens)
* 6 small/4 large strawberries, cubed
* 1 chunk cucumber, cubed
* 1 chunk carrot, cubed
* 3 dried apricots (unsulphered) , sliced
* 1 dried fig, sliced
* 1-2 T pine nuts (or almonds!)
Omega-3 Agave/Mustard Dressing
One serving
* 1 t flax oil
* 2 t mustard
* 1 T agave
* 2 T apple cider vinegar (or lemon juice)
This is a really nice, fresh, summer-y salad! Stawberries are not in season obviously but I can’t help myself! Now that I’ve vowed to only buy organic for at least a week, let’s see if I’m still so eager to buy them (hello twice the price!)
.
Bursting with omega-3 (flax), iron (apricots, fig, pine nuts, greens), vitamin A (carrot, greens) fiber, hydration and most yummy of all: phytonutrients!
That’s all the recipes you’re going to get today, don’t get greedy now! Here’s some other foodie stuff that’s been going on:
Hubba hubba. I love good-looking salads.
Fruits & veggies are taking over my fridge! I went from oneandahalf shelf to three shelves in a mere two weeks!
My first grocery stash for the green challenge! I was out €40 but that’s including about €15 for plant seeds (psyched!!! beets, spinach, carrot and SWISS CHARD (snijbiet)) & organic cleaning agent. I bought arugula & bananas on sale.
Is it obvious I have an adiction for lemons & avocados :p? I think I eat about one large avocado a day on avarage. I hoard them like they’re going out of style…
Healthy school snacking:
Brown rice cake sandwich! With raw almond/coconut butter, cinnamon & banana
+ Coffee date balls, clementine & unpictured apple. All before lunch
The boy was getting a bit tired of salads haha so he made himself this awesome vegan meal!
Quirky little Isa
.
I have a ton more awesome recipes to share with you all the coming week, get excited!
Any nice plans for today? I have to work for school/intern but I hope to catch some sun (ifit decides to make an appearance at all) and I plan on doing some homestyle meditation/yoga. Urgh, why is this so hard for me???
Love,
Sabine

Hmm that salad with the strawberries and the fig looks very very verrryyyy yummy. I hope I can find the ingredients this Saturday so I can make the salad myself.
.
I’ve bought some hennep-seeds, because I saw them on your site. Do you have the ones with shell or without shell? I’ve bought those with shell and baked them without oil and it tasted very nice.
And about the yoga/meditation, just do it
Perhaps is the ‘Wereld Meditatie Uur’ *google that* something for you as well?
Enjoy your day and take care
I think I have shelled ones, so with the shells removed but I’m not 100% sure. I bought them at the Noordermarkt monthsss ago but only recently started using them a lot & love them! I’ll google the world meditation hour!
allthough… an hour of meditating sounds scary :p
http://www.bksa.org/AGENDA/progasd.htm
Here they’ve got that hour of meditation. While in stead it is not an hour, but fifteen minutes more.
Are you still eating Gluten Free by the way? Perhaps you can make socca then, that’s with chickpea flour.
I know doing yoga poses etc at home is a bit hard at first or takes getting used to, I think mostly because you don’t have your teacher correcting you, or guiding you, or you have trouble remembering the poses. You can start with doing only one pose, or two that you feel comfortable/confident enough with, and it helps to write down the instructions during class, to hold on to at home until it becomes more natural. So yeah, don’t skip the classes
because they’re the most important to help you learn to practice at home!
I’m perfectly comfortable practising at home, but still don’t do it very often, that’s mostly a discipline thing. My mission for the next two weeks: at least 15 min of asana’s every morning, and at 30 min of meditation at night. Should be do-able. This morning I already did 30 minutes of asana’s instead of 15, easily haha, felt short. And about the meditation, I recommend starting with like 10 minutes, and build up slowly, not start with an hour (!) there’s no forcing yourself in yoga world, only challenging :p
xxx
thank you sweety for all your Yoga & meditation tips! Ohhhh you should do a guest post on Yoga and/or medidation if you’d like. I think a lot of readers would enjoy that!
You’re right with yoga it’s mostly because I am not quite sure what to do haha, like I mentioned to you before. meditation is easier in a way because the technical aspect is not that hard. I do 10 minutes every time I meditate, not longer because I feel that would pressure me too much. I really love focusing on my breath while I meditate. My mom can meditate for some hours which I think is insane (in a good way) but in no way am I aspiring that for myself right away. yoga Y meditation are just some things I like to have as a constant in my life but not for hours on end every time.
I’ll try your tip with doing just one pose and then mayeb when I am, I’ll remember some more.

Yum, your brownies look amazing! I love the avocado and cherry topping!
Hahaha die foto van je koelkast :p geniaal!! De rest ziet er ook heerlijk uit!! Heb de sojabonen gevonden trouwens
Loved it!!
Yumyumyum! I think I want to lick my computer screen! Those pictures are so yummy! I couldn’t help myself yesterday, so I made the brownies of a recipe I found a couple of days ago. It’s quite simple: whole weat flour, sucanat, water, cacao powder, coconut butter, vanilla extract, baking powder and salt. In the oven and ready to eat! You can add chopped nuts as well. Simple but tasty! I’ll try your recipe also. It has fruit in them, so it’s even more healthy!
To bad I don’t have an AH nearby. Our supermarket doesn’t sell frozen fruit..
that brownie recipe sounds good too!
you could go to AH and load up on those little boxes if you have enough freezer space? or sub frozen fruit that IS readily available to you, and freeze it yourself
. like grapes & banana!
Dang those brownies look decadent!!! MMM! You are like me w/ lemons and avocados! Can NEVER have enough!
AHH THOSE BROWNIES LOOK HEAVENLy! and all washed down with a smoothie!!! love these!!
I’m not vegan..but your stuff looks so yummy.

OMG. Your ChocoCado brownies look incredible!
Jesus Christ there is a lot of spammy comments on this page. Have you actually believed about attempting to get rid of them or putting in a tool?
